Your NIOS Class 10 public-exam centre is the venue printed on your Intimation-cum-Hall Ticket. Download it from the official portal using your 12-digit enrolment number. Do not appear elsewhere unless NIOS or your Regional Centre gives written permission.
The venue is not the same thing as the study centre selected during NIOS registration, and it may not be the venue used for practicals or an On-Demand Examination. Read the current examination notice, date sheet and hall ticket together.
This guide reflects NIOS public-examination instructions available on 7 August 2026. Dates, venues and cycle-specific instructions can change. The hall ticket and notice for the learner's actual examination session take priority over any general guide.

How to find your allotted NIOS Class 10 exam centre
- Confirm that the public-examination fee was paid and that a photograph is available in the learner record. The official hall-ticket page says a hall ticket is downloadable only when both conditions are met.
- Open the NIOS hall-ticket portal at sdmis.nios.ac.in/search/hall-ticket. Enter the learner's 12-digit enrolment number and select the relevant hall-ticket type.
- Download the Intimation-cum-Hall Ticket. Check the learner name, enrolment number, subjects, dates, reporting time and full venue address.
- Compare every paper with the current official date sheet and notifications. Do not reuse a screenshot or date sheet from an earlier examination cycle.
- Save a digital copy and print a readable copy. Plan the route using the exact address printed on the document, allowing time for traffic and an unfamiliar entrance.
- If the ticket is not generated or a detail appears wrong, contact the relevant NIOS Regional Centre immediately and retain the complaint number, email or screenshot.
NIOS publishes exam-centre and date-sheet notifications on its official notification feed. A generic web list of schools is not proof that a particular learner has been assigned to one of them; the learner's current hall ticket is the controlling document.
Can you choose or change the exam centre?
You cannot simply attend a more convenient centre. The current NIOS centre-superintendent guidelines state that a learner must not appear at a centre other than the allotted one unless NIOS headquarters or the Regional Centre permits it in writing. An unauthorised appearance can lead to the result being withheld and an unfair-means case.
If the address creates a serious accessibility, safety or administrative problem, contact the Regional Centre as soon as the hall ticket is available. Explain the issue, attach the hall ticket and supporting documents, and ask for a written decision. Do not treat a phone conversation as permission to switch venues.

The national centre guidelines reviewed for this update identify the NIOS identity card and intimation document; they do not present Aadhaar as a substitute. Follow any additional instruction printed on the learner's current hall ticket, but do not arrive with only an Aadhaar card and assume entry is guaranteed.
Entry time, late arrival and leaving the room
The NIOS centre guidelines say the examination hall opens 30 minutes before the paper and a candidate arriving more than 30 minutes after the scheduled start is not admitted. They also say a learner may not leave the hall or take the question paper out before half of the allotted examination time has passed.
For the April-May 2026 public examination, the final date sheet provided 15 minutes of reading time before writing. That detail is cycle-specific: check the current date sheet and hall ticket rather than assuming every later session uses the same timing. Reaching the campus early is practical planning, not a guarantee that entry rules will be relaxed.
If the hall ticket is missing on exam day
Fix a missing ticket before travelling whenever possible. The official download page tells learners whose hall ticket is not generated to contact the Regional Centre immediately. Check fee status and the learner photograph first, then send the enrolment number and screenshot of the error.
The centre guidelines allow a centre superintendent to consider a learner without the intimation document when the learner has a valid NIOS identity card and appears on the centre attendance list. This is a contingency, not an alternative process. It does not let a learner attend a different centre or bypass an unresolved allocation problem.
Support for learners with disabilities
NIOS centre guidelines provide for accessible seating and approved accommodations. Depending on the learner's documented need and approval, provisions can include a ground-floor or accessible room, a scribe or reader, assistive devices, short breaks and an additional 20 minutes per examination hour.
The forms, evidence and lead time depend on the provision. Contact the Regional Centre well before the examination, use the current NIOS form, and carry the written approval. If the allotted building is not usable, report the exact barrier immediately rather than informally switching centres.
Public exam centre versus On-Demand centre
NIOS public examinations run on a published cycle and use the venue allotted on the Intimation-cum-Hall Ticket. ODE uses a separate booking process at participating NIOS locations, with dates and seats depending on the current schedule. An ODE centre list does not tell you where a public-exam learner has been allocated.
For example, the January-March 2026 ODE date sheet told learners to contact their theory-exam centre for the practical date and time and said no separate practical hall ticket would be issued for that ODE cycle. What the official rules do not guarantee
- The nearest possible centre to the learner's home.
- A particular school, district, room, parking arrangement or parent waiting area.
- Air conditioning, a specific transport option or storage for phones and bags.
- Permission to change venues because another centre appears on an online list.
- That the study centre, theory centre, practical venue and ODE centre are the same place.
A route check after the hall ticket arrives is sensible family planning. Treat observations about gates, travel time and accessibility as local logistics, not as NIOS policy.
