At this stage the certification route must drive the book list. If the learner is registered for NIOS Secondary, the official NIOS SLM for the registered subject codes is the exam spine; everything else is support.
Write down every subject title and code from the learner record. Build the plan from those codes, not from a generic “NIOS Class 10 package”.

Map lessons to assessment
Create one tracker for SLM lessons, Tutor Marked Assignments, practicals and revision. Recheck current official deadlines rather than copying last year's calendar.

Add supplements only by gap
Use Khan, PhET or SATHEE for a named concept or model. Return to the NIOS wording, physical practical requirements and exercises before assessment.

Class 9
Build the conceptual base, writing stamina and lab habits that the full Secondary course will demand.
Core shelf
For NIOS, begin the registered Secondary SLM; do not search for a nonexistent separate “NIOS Class 9” official shelf.
Add only if useful
Use NCERT Class 9 books for alternative explanations, Khan for targeted maths/science practice and PhET to test a stated model or prediction.
Keep as evidence
Maintain a subject tracker, lab record and timed-writing baseline.
NIOS Secondary SLM is a Class 10 course—not “Class 9 NIOS”
Plan from every registered subject code and use the current official material NIOS provides.
NIOS Secondary leads to a Class 10-equivalent certificate. Families often use two years to complete it, but subjects are organised by course code, not by Class 9 and Class 10. The current prospectus is the source of truth for subject codes; regional public catalogues expose SLM for many codes and can lag newly added subjects. If a registered code has no public link, ask NIOS or the study centre for the official material. Check current Tutor Marked Assignment, practical and examination instructions separately.
