The Riverside School is an alternate school serving families in India. Riverside is far better known than it is independently examined. The school’s own press page carries roughly fifty links, and the overwhelming majority are regional and national reproductions of a single PTI wire item from November 2023 about the World’s Best School Prize for Innovation — a prize run by T4 Education that schools enter by application, not an inspection or an audit. Very little of that coverage looks at the school itself. The evidence for the Design for Change method is similarly circular: the impact studies most often cited are hosted and curated by Design for Change, and we found no independent peer-reviewed evaluation of Riverside’s own outcomes. On the practical side, the school holds no Indian board affiliation other than a NIOS study centre, so families wanting CBSE, CISCE or Gujarat state board should look elsewhere, and admission into Grade 10 or Grade 12 is closed outright. Fees of ₹1.76–2.11 lakh a year place it beyond most Ahmedabad families. The ratings base is thin and stale: 63 ratings on SchoolMyKids with most written reviews dating from 2018–19, Edustoke shows no rating at all, and no Google rating could be read at source; SchoolMyKids also states it computes its score with a machine-learned model rather than a raw average. The 1:12 ratio is the school’s own claim and is not independently verified, and the school publishes no enrolment figure. The sharpest public review, from December 2018, argues the papers are too easy and that the school "is running due to high rating fees structures" — one parent’s view, but the only substantive criticism on the public record.
